Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Cooltive ("the App", "we", "our") handles information when you use our plant cultivation tracking application. We are committed to being transparent about what data is collected and how it is used.

1. Information We Collect

Cooltive collects minimal data. Specifically:

• Anonymous usage identifier: When you first open the App, Firebase Authentication (provided by Google) assigns your device an anonymous user ID. This ID does not include your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information. It is used solely to understand how many devices are actively using the App.
• Device & session metadata: Firebase may automatically collect basic technical information such as device type, operating system version, and session timestamps as part of its anonymous authentication service.
• Plant cultivation data (future cloud backup feature): A cloud backup feature is planned for a future release. When available, registered users who explicitly enable this feature may have their cultivation records — including plant entries, growth logs, measurements, nutrition mixes, and seed stock data — stored in Firebase Firestore (Google's cloud database). This feature is not yet available to the general public.
• Photos (future cloud backup feature): When the cloud backup feature becomes available, registered users who enable it may have photos attached to their plant records stored in Firebase Storage (Google's cloud storage service). This feature is not yet available to the general public.

We do not collect your name, email, location, or any other personal information. We do not use analytics platforms, advertising SDKs, or third-party tracking tools.

2. How Your Plant Data Is Stored

All cultivation records you create — including plant entries, growth logs, photos, environments, seeds, and nutrition mixes — are stored locally on your device only. This data never leaves your device in the current version of the App.

In a future release, registered users will have the option to enable cloud backup, which will securely store their data in Firebase Firestore and Firebase Storage (Google LLC), encrypted in transit and at rest. This policy will be updated accordingly when that feature becomes publicly available.

3. Camera & Photo Library Access

The App requests access to your device's camera and photo library solely to allow you to attach photos to your plant records. Photos you select or capture are stored locally on your device. We do not upload, transmit, or process your photos in any way in the current version of the App.

4. Third-Party Services

The App currently uses the following service provided by Google LLC:

• Firebase Authentication — for anonymous sign-in. May collect device identifiers and usage data.

The following services are integrated in preparation for a future cloud backup feature but are not yet active for general users:

• Firebase Firestore — cloud database (not yet active for general users)
• Firebase Storage — cloud file storage (not yet active for general users)

For more information on how Google handles data, please refer to Google's Privacy Policy. No other third-party services are integrated into the App.

5. Data Retention

All data is stored locally on your device and is removed when you uninstall the App. The anonymous Firebase UID may persist on Firebase servers; you may request its deletion by contacting us at the email below.

6. Children's Privacy

Cooltive is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has used the App, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

7. Legal Compliance

Cooltive is a general-purpose plant cultivation tracking tool intended for use in jurisdictions where such activity is lawful. Users are solely responsible for ensuring their use of the App complies with all applicable local, state, and national laws and regulations. The developer assumes no responsibility for how the App is used.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
